Step 4: Install Cable Fittings and Grommets
- Determine the entry point on the concealed panel (rear, side, or flush) and install the grommet or fitting at least 1 meter from the cut end of the cable .
- Secure the fitting by tightening the clamp or hex nut to hold the cable jacket firmly .
Step 5: Route and Secure the Cable
- Route the fiber through the panel's fiber management clips or trays, leaving sufficient slack to prevent tension .
- Use velcro straps or cable managers to secure excess cable and avoid tight loops .
Step 6: Mate Fiber Connectors
- Insert the fiber connectors into the appropriate adapters on the panel, ensuring correct alignment and that the connectors click into place .
- Apply label holders above the adapters for identification .
Step 7: Test the Connection
- Use a visual fault locator or Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) to verify signal integrity and detect any breaks or defects .
- Confirm that the connection meets performance standards before closing the panel .

- Avoid exceeding the fiber's minimum bend radius to prevent signal loss .
- Connect the light source last and, if possible, switch it off before making connections to prevent eye damage .
